Human Rights Journalism Award announced

Intermedia, a non-profit organisation working for journalists’ capacity building and strengthening freedom of information, in collaboration with The Asia Foundation, announced ‘Human Rights Journalism Award’ for journalists working in print and electronic media.

A press release issued here on Tuesday stated the awards categories are print media award for Urdu Press (one award), print media regional language press (one award) and national electronic media television (one award).

A committee of media experts, editors and senior journalists would finalise the awards. The award ceremony will be held on International Human Rights Day on December 10, 2009 in Islamabad.
Decisions to give awards will be based upon the criteria of originality of the content, accuracy of information citation by other reports or articles.

The press release also stated that only printed and telecast news reports would be considered for award. Winners will be awarded with certificates of recognition, medals and cash prizes of Rs 50,000 in each category. Candidates can send copies of their printed clippings and television reports latest by November 30, 2009.
