Students win national journalism awards

The following Blue Valley West journalism students placed in the Gold Circle national awards program sponsored by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association: Lauren Aiello, second place, yearbook sports spread design; Dylan Walker, second place, portfolio of photo essays.

Alex Lahasky, third place, editorial page design in black-and- white; Jim Becker, honorable mention, news page design in black-andwhite; Krayton Brox, honorable mention, use of typography on a single page; Michael Hazel, honorable mention, personal opinion article on an offcampus topic; Dylan Walker, honorable mention, infographic design in two or more colors; Andrew Wojtanik, honorable mention, op-ed page design in black-and-white; and Spotlight Staff received honorable mention for overall excellence in typography.
