
ASJA - American Society of Journalists and Authors was founded in 1948 which is now the nation's leading organization of independent nonfiction writers. Its headquarters are in New York City. It also has active regional chapters in Northern and Southern California, the Rocky Mountain area, and Washington, DC.
ASJA consist of more than 1,100 outstanding freelance writers of magazine articles, trade books, and other forms of writing. All of these members met the standards of professional achievement set by ASJA. ASJA is a primary voice in representing freelancers' interests. It serves as spokesman for the rights of freelance writers. It also offers access to writers in the marketplace who are capable of producing articles, books, brochures and scripts on any imaginable subject.
