Journalism students at the University of Mississippi are among winners of the 43rd annual Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Awards for a series of stories on the Mississippi Delta.  The awards were announced Tuesday. The awards will be presented during a May 18 ceremony at The United States Institute of Peace in Washington. Winners receive a cash prize and a bust of Robert Kennedy created by sculptor Robert Berks.

The UM students conducted the interviews, shot still and video images and edited and packaged the results as a series for newspapers in a magazine format, photo book and multiple video documentaries. It was the magazine format, "The Roads of Broken Dreams: Can a New Delta arise from the rot of the Old South?" that was submitted to the competition.
