Auburn University to present top alumni journalism awards

Auburn University is presenting its annual journalism awards to graduates. Among the winners being honored at Friday's Journalism Awards luncheon are Mobile Press-Register managing editor Dewey English. English is receiving the Distinguished Auburn Journalism Alumnus Award. The late Ron Casey, who was editorial page editor of The Birmingham News, won for Distinguished Special Achievement in Journalism.

Other winners include Dothan Eagle sports editor Jon Johnson for Alabama community sports; former Talladega Daily Home editor-publisher Carol Pappas for Alabama community journalist; and retired CBS news journalist Jim Stewart, for mass media achievement.  Past winners include Pulitzer Prize winners Howell Raines, Cynthia Tucker and Brett Blackledge.
