Journalism students at the University of Kansas  are hosting an online summit this weekend focusing on diversity and social media. The summit begins at 11 a.m. Saturday to discuss ways journalists and nonjournalists are participating in storytelling through Twitter, Facebook and other digital platforms.

Co-presenters of the summit will be UNITY: Journalists of Color, which is an alliance that advocates for fair and accurate news coverage about people of color. The event will be streamed live on the UNITY home page, and also on the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications site. It also will be live-blogged on Twitter. Those who want to participate also can attend the event in person at 100 Stauffer-Flint Hall.
